Brian/Justin AU (they met later and in a different way)

Help please! I’m looking for a fantastic story, that was a WIP when I read it quite while ago. It’s a Brian/Justin AU, and this is what I remember:
- Brian and Justin met while commuting from Pittsburgh to New York
- Brian owns Kinnetik, the Diner and Babylon and is teaching somewhere in NY
- Justin is already a known artist
- they share a hotel suite during a snowstorm
- when Justin can’t move into his newly renovated house/studio, Brian offers he can stay and paint at Britin
- Brian and Justin have quite hot pool sex (this I remember reeealy well)
Michael is jealous when the whole gang visits and he sees how comfortable Brian and Justin are with each other.

Found! It's Commuter flight stories by [livejournal.com profile] netfic

Commuter flight series by netlagd! :-)

Kudos for the detailed memory! :D

I confirm, the fic you're searching for is "Commuter Flight Stories" by [livejournal.com profile] netlagd and has been completed. (There's also a sequel, "Turbulence", that is still a WIP.)

You will have to friend her fic journal [livejournal.com profile] netfics in order to read it, I don't think it is up anywhere else.

[identity profile] netfics.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
well, it was up on bjfic.net - but it is still down
and it was up on an old iteration of Midnight Whispers, but after it went down for the 2nd time I stopped there.

I keep toying with the idea of putting it up at Across the Pond, but can't find the time.

I wonder if I commit to a chapter a month I can finish Turbulence this year?

I'll drink to that! I'm on chap 27 of EJ (again). I'm a big fan.

Yes, that's where I originally found CFS. I'm starting to forget the times when BJFic.net was still up and running, it's been so long.

Can't blame you there, Net.

I still find LJ to be the most appealing way to post fic, though it did take some getting used to in the beginning. Oh boy, it did. Mostly I'm just feeling ambivalent about these archive sites, though I'm sure it's less complicated for LJ foreigners to get around there.

Speaking of, wasn't there talk of someone setting up a QaF fic archive on LJ some months ago? I had that flagged as a cool project. Whatever happened to it?

I wonder if I commit to a chapter a month I can finish Turbulence this year?
Worth a try, I'd say? I bet there's a bunch of people more than willing to cheer you on. ;)

You can always post them here:

It's [livejournal.com profile] bloodyrose82, who are one of the mods on [livejournal.com profile] bjfic that started this :)

I friended her but I still can't find the story. I can only find 2-5 chapters of Turbulence. Is there a tag to the story on her page or what?

[identity profile] teinisydan.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, found it!

[identity profile] sakesushimaki.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, right, thanks! [livejournal.com profile] bloodyrose82 was that someone.
Now that you mention her, I think I even emailed her links to my fic or something, but I have no idea what went on from there, ha ha.

I hope they didn't kill that project. It was such a good concept to compile just links to the fic into an exclusive LJ archive.

She has to friend you back as well! ;)

[identity profile] netfics.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
you're welcome to friend me back, but I don't believe you have to friend me to read my journal. However, since the journal is f-locked *I* have to friend you so you have access.

p.s. I love Aruba - I have a timeshare there and go there annually

[identity profile] netfics.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
done!

I think I need to do a PSA post about flocked journals - why people have them, what you have to do to read them... I'll ask Red and Court

[identity profile] imachocaholic.livejournal.com 2010-02-06 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Hi! I would love to read your stories as well. Just want to let you know that I just added you.

[identity profile] netfics.livejournal.com 2010-02-06 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
While I have taken care of friending you back - this is not the correct forum to make this request. Making requests here clog up the post with extraneous comments.

If you want to be friended by someone who flocks their journal, the right thing to do is to go to the journal and send a PM to journal owner regarding wanting to be friended.

When you do it here, you run the risk of not knowing whether or not they see it.

okay, well, consider the comment deleted.

[identity profile] imachocaholic.livejournal.com 2010-02-06 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the fyi. Apparently, the old days of being able to leave a comment to get friended is gone.

[identity profile] netfics.livejournal.com 2010-02-06 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
hey, that wasn't meant to insult you - I just wanted to let you know that authors don't always know about comments that reference their work - I'm happy to have folks want to be friended and read what I write.

[identity profile] netfics.livejournal.com 2010-02-06 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Leaving a comment is fine, but most of the time it doesn't work on my journal. It may have to do that the journal is flagged with an over 18 caution. It's easier just to PM.

[identity profile] court1429.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
No, leaving a comment to be friended is fine. In fact, some f-locked LJs have a sticky post up saying "comment below to be added."

It's just that you made that request in a community that's not owned by the author. E.g., [livejournal.com profile] netlagd has a fic comm, [livejournal.com profile] netfics, which she created to make it easier for people who just want to read her fics.

Since LJ can be kinda iffy on email notifications and not everyone tracks posts, there's at least a 50/50 chance that an author might not get your friend request comment if made in a journal or comm that doesn't belong to her. And that doesn't do anyone any good at all!

[identity profile] court1429.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, this is what you were talking about. I got your email today, which is several days after you wrote and I was confused by it.

Yes, a PSA post about flocked LJs could be helpful.

[identity profile] court1429.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Would you please edit your post to add something to the effect of AU B/J meet while commuting or something similar that gives just a bit of detail? Thanks!

[identity profile] netfics.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
uh, yup, that's why
