Randy & Fab on a date?

I'm almost positive that I watched somewhere in a commentary that Randy and Fabrizio (Ethan) went on an actual date to get a feel for the Justin/Ethan arc. Does anyone know where I can find this piece of knowledge?

Ethan was the best freaking thing that ever happened to Justin, IMO.

If Ethan hadn't come into Justin's life, Justin may never have realized how brian really did care for him and how Brian's version of love was way better than the immature flowers and picnics Justin thought he wanted.

And even though I LOVE B&J and they are my true 'Ship, and I would have been unhappy if they hadn't gotten back together and Justin had stayed with Ethan, I still don't see any way in which Ethan was "mentally abusive" to justin. WTF?! That comes out of left field to me.

Ethan wanted to closet the relationship, yes but Justin agreed. i don't see that as mental abuse and if nobody remembers it was BRIAN who encouraged Ethan to do so. And cheating isn't mental abusive - it's physical betrayal.

Also brian had a tendency of rubbing tricks in Justin's face - in S2 especially - when he KNEW Justin was sensitive about the "open" part of their relationship. that's kind mentally abusive.

Just giving my 2 cents. Take it or leave it!

Would love to have a link to that "date" tidbit though if someone finds it. So Karyn can overheat - lol

Ethan was a plot device, I don't even think of him as a real character. If the writers of the show would have been consistent with how they wrote Justin, Ethan wouldn't have been needed. But since the writers wrote tail end of season 2 Justin like he was Michael, so sure Ethan had a purpose.

However I stand by my mentally abusive comment. If I was lied about to my face, if I was constantly told I was the one, if I was given a ring and then find out that it was all bullshit and manipulation I would feel pretty abused. There were times while watching these episodes that I would shake my head and think "WTF" how can anyone want to be with Ethan he has nothing to offer other than words and even those weren't truthful. Also all I could see was a gay Scott Hope when he was on QAF.

On a more happy note. You guys totally rock. Passion for QAF still being alive is so great. Loving this show for 9 years and still having the passion I have for it makes me tingle a bit.

I am going to start a rewatch tomorrow night. I think, it's been a few years since I have had a 5 season marathon.
