Yay for good revolutions! The Wayback Machine has saved my sanity on lots of occasions. It's not infallible, and particularly with the archive sites, it can take enormous patience, but it's always my first "go-to".

You should be able to save from there, too. netlagd just posted within the past couple of weeks a Firefox add-on that lets you save right from the website you're on, so that might be useful, too.
