Downloadable stories

Hi

I am off on holiday shortly and will be taking my laptop, but I won't have any internet access.  I will go stir crazy if I don't have any fan fic to read, does anyone know of any downloadable stories please, that I can take with me. (or I hate to ask this as it usually causes controveshy but anything they can email me?)

I am a B/J shipper that likes a happy ending, and I love long stories, but other than that I don't have any preferences. Thanks

NB: Loads of options/ideas provided, see coments

I've purchased a flash drive, where I "save as" stories to so I can read my B/J stories at work. With a flash drive you don't need the internet. Hope that'll help.

If you're interested I'll send you any of my stories you want. I have them all as Word docs. Just send me a message on my LJ with your e-mail.

The easiest sites to save stories from are bjfic.net and midnight-whispers.ca because they have a link at the top right for the whole story. if you click on "story" it will bring up a new window where you can right click, select all, copy and paste to word and save to your hard drive or a flash drive. you can do really long, multi-chaptered stories like that. atp has the same feature, but for some reason the stories lose their formatting, so you have to go back through and add paragraph and page breaks.
authors there with long stories (totally off the top of my head) are moonshadow woman, edom, crazy fairy, azureopal, xie, vamphile, sapphire....

Hope this helps.

If you don't mind self recs, my B/J college AU, The Space Between (http://arlad.livejournal.com/45740.html), has a link to download the whole thing in a Word doc there at the master post I linked - it's 50K, happy ending :D

If you use Firefox, there's an add-on that lets you save any web page as a pdf (that you could store on a flash drive, as [livejournal.com profile] lougenessis suggests). It's great for when you're reading that goooood story and you don't want to worry about losing the bookmark or the site crashing or being taken down - long live the Wayback Machine then! :)

That said, I have Celebrity and Gossip by [livejournal.com profile] yoursweater and How We Got Where We're Going by Allie, if you haven't read those yet and would like them. Celebrity/Gossip are AU but still B/J.

Just thought I'd tell you here I left you a message in your livejournal inbox in case you don't get emails for that. Later, Rory
