A couple of things,

One: I remember reading a fic where Brian makes Justin work at the Diner to pay off the charges on his credit card but then Brian says to Justin that he isnt supposed to enjoy it because it's punishment. Also, Justin wants to know when his debt is finally paid off because he wants to buy something with the money he has been earning. But Brian tells him that he wants him to put it in an account at the bank. It might be apart of a long fic or it might be a short one, I'm not too sure. Any ideas?

Two: Does anyone have the links for The Long Way by (I believe)

ragingpixie or

bigboobedcanuck? I looked through the memories for both but all the chapters are not there.

hey, yes, I agree with you. I did enjoy the story. I just can't seem to keep the stories with the authors...I mix them up...I remember the context just not the writers...until, of course, I am reminded! *LOL*

With Interest is first generation QAF fanfic, along with stories by
Miss Miko, Rizabeau, Haiphiston Lo, Trisky, and my all time favorites,
Mesa and Sandra Gia. These writers have a clear romantic vision of Brian and Justin..Great broads. They knew their queers.
Later generations have taken great liberties with our guys. They crippled, they have amnesia, they're blind, they're in the CIA, they're pregnant (ugh), lately they're in Afganistan.
Entirely different world view.. Often just as good, but different.

I have read most if not all of the stories written by the ones you have mentioned. I love their stories, I think they grasp a realm of our boys so well that it keeps the readers so interested and involved that it is truly refreshing. The newer writers, however, do not carry the same weight. There are many stories that I don’t feel very good about reading. So much so that now I find myself steering clear of obscure summaries. I don't like the new ideas people are coming up with because it takes the characters so out of context. I especially do not like MPREG. It so far beyond realistic that it leave me queasy. I know that sounds pretty bad but I like the writings from yesteryear.

I agree..totally. I was trying to be be gentle..I don't want the
wrath of the younger generation reigning down on me. It's happened
in the past. It's not pretty.
For unmitigated laughs, ask Mcpofife to let you read her Charlotte
stories. The stories are flocked or locked or whatever it is, but
she's worth pleading with..Soooo delicious..
The pregnant thing cuts across a lot of fandoms, I think. It's not
original with QAF. It's beyond awful...

I've read all of the authors you mention, except Mesa. Do you have links to her stuff?

Oh! I forgot to ask, with Gaedahl--which is complete? It seems to be all over and I can't follow. After reading the summaries to each entry, it looks like it jumps within the timeline. Am I reading it wrong?

You know, I've read all this stuff (and more) except the pregnant and Afganistan (WTF?) and it didn't seem so bad until it was all lumped together!

*LOL* I had a good laugh with that one too! When they are all separated it doesn't seem sooo bad...there are several that I've read that have that as a focal point but the writer is talented and so it doesn't hit you that it is so far off base. I feel like I've read everything though. I need some new suggestions! I love long fics because they take time to read and it gives me something to do while I am online. Know of any? Preferably ones that don't border on the above mention liberties?

I can recommend a few of my favorite authors, but honestly I'm too tired to look for links (14 hour Fridays suck). So if that's ok, I adore soundczech (Subject to Change), ragingpixie (Divergence is a killer), everything bigboobedcanuk, rhiannonhero (Omlet), and of the newer authors everyone knows vamphile and Xie, but besame_bj is good and angsty, long involved stories, and if you want to laugh check out slave_o_spike or The Church of Brian and Justin (I think that's the right name). sequel, "Queer Realities."

"Medium Security" is complete, but that might
be too AU for your tastes. I'd suggest

We all have our preferences and a few of the ones listed above just don't peak my interests. Thank you for the info on your stories though! I will definitely check them out!

in there.. It's the best QAF fanfic site there is.
I envy you reading Mesa for the first time. Her "No Regrets" is arguably the best QAF fanfic we have.
Who do you like aside from Gaedahl?..I agree, she's splendid..

Mesa really only wrote one story -- "No Regrets."
When you get it right the first time, that's all
you really need.
