Also, Digg or Reddit might be options for future social bookmarking

[livejournal.com profile] court1429 requested that I post the following:
[livejournal.com profile] plasticine_star recommended www.diigo.com as an alternative. It will import your delicious bookmarks and tags (though not the tag bundles). I just joined and followed their instructions for saving my personal delicious bookmarks as an html file and am doing the import now. No idea how long it will take. It depends on the size of your bookmark file and how many other people are trying to do the same thing. If nothing else, though, definitely save your bookmarks as an html file. Diigo will send an email when the transfer is complete and I'll post how long it took, just as an FYI.

Definitely pass the word in all the comms and to anyone whose fandom bookmarks you view on a frequent basis who might not frequent LJ.

Netlagd, will you add this info about diigo into your post by the Digg and Reddit info, please? I've never used them except to "vote" something up. I didn't think they were actual bookmarking sites. I think Google's also got a bookmarks tool, but I've never looked at it.

Ugh! This is total crap!!! I just started using Delicious a few months ago and have been gradually transfering all my links there...all that time wasted!!! Grrr...

Well, I signed up at Diigo and it's in the process of uploading my bookmarks from the html file. I'm guessing it's gonna take quite awile as I'm sure there are hundreds of folks trying to do the same thing.

Thanks so much for posting this...I would have been seriously pissed if I had lost everything!

I know I am doing the same thing, but I have over 6,000 bookmarks saved over the years...... *cries*

Yikes! That's a lot of bookmarks!

I have no idea how long the import process is going to take. I am wondering if I can close IE or even shut down my PC while it's doing the import. Do you know?
